Elderly pensioners will no longer have to wander here and there for life certificates. In fact, the postal department has started the system of delivering certificates from door to door. As soon as the online application for the certificate is made, the postal servant and postman are reaching the pensioners’ house to provide them with this facility. However, a fee of Rs 70 is being charged for this. Under this facility, so far around 200 life certificates have been made across the district.
Pensioners will have to give only this information
The Indian Postal Department has started a new digital life certificate service for the convenience of pensioners. This service is being operated in collaboration with India Post Payments Bank Pension and Pensioner Welfare Department and National Informatics Center. The postman will go to the address given by the pensioner and issue a digital life certificate through Aadhaar based biometric system. This service is simple and convenient for pensioners and is especially beneficial for those who are elderly or who find it difficult to go to the office.
To avail this service, pensioners will only have to provide Aadhaar number and pension details. After the certificate is made, the pensioner will receive a confirmation message on their registered mobile number. Through this, all the pensioners of Central, State and Employees Provident Fund Organization will no longer need to visit the offices after getting the life certificate. Pensioners taking advantage of this service can contact the nearest post office or can get information from the postman or rural postal worker of their area.
Verification is being done on the basis of face
Many times at the time of application, due to old age, the pensioners cannot be verified by thumb. In such a situation, verification is being done by their face. This has made the verification process better and easier. The branch manager said that there are rural branch post offices across the district, sub post offices in tehsils and towns and the main post office in Yamunanagar. Pensioners are being provided facilities from all places. So far more than 200 life certificates have been issued. It was told that all the rural postal workers and postmen are equipped with mobile phones. These are being used to issue certificates using finger biometric and face verification technology.
