Sep 27, 2024, 23:36 IST
| Starting 1 October 2024 commuters on the Yamuna Expressway will experience a toll hike that will make travel from Greater Noida to Agra more expensive. The decision was made by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) during its recent board meeting, increasing toll rates for all categories of vehicles. This marks the first toll revision since September 2022, and the hike is expected to generate significant revenue for the authority.
Key Toll Hike Details:
- Cars, Jeeps, and Light Motor Vehicles: The toll for these vehicles will rise from ₹270 to ₹295 for a one-way trip.
- Buses and Trucks: The toll will increase from ₹895 to ₹935.
- Oversized Vehicles: These vehicles will now pay ₹1835, up from ₹1760.
- The toll rate hike is part of an effort to maintain and improve the 165 km long expressway, which has significantly reduced travel time between Delhi and Agra, bringing it down from 4 hours to 2.5 hours. The additional revenue from this hike is aimed at improving infrastructure and maintaining road quality
- While the toll increase might burden daily commuters, it is seen as necessary for sustaining the upkeep of one of the country’s busiest and most vital roadways.
