Bihar Roads to Get a Major Facelift, ₹527.85 Crore Approved for Six Key Highways
Deputy Chief Minister and Road Construction Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha announced that the second phase of the OPRMC road maintenance plan is currently not being implemented in the district. As an alternative, the department has initiated this road renewal plan.
In a significant development, the administration has sanctioned the renewal of six crucial roads in Muzaffarpur district. This initiative aims to improve road infrastructure, ensuring safe and smooth commuting for the public. Key Roads Undergoing Renovation
1. NH-28 to NH-102 via Kanti (Length: 12.55 km)
Out of the total length, 6.95 km of this route will be repaired with a budget of ₹523.85 lakh. This road connects Kanti, Marwan, and surrounding areas, enhancing access to Central Office and Canty Railway Station. The project is expected to provide a safer and more efficient commuting experience for residents and travelers alike.
2. Kanti to Raghai Ghat (Length: 9.70 km)
A 6.3 km stretch of this road will be renewed with ₹584.62 lakh allocated for the work. This highway plays a vital role in linking Muzaffarpur with Shivhar and Sitamarhi districts. Its renovation will significantly improve connectivity between the city and nearby villages, as well as block headquarters.
3. NH-77 to Pakki Sarai via Turkachowk, Kerma, and Kacchi Pakki (Length: 19.25 km)
Out of the total length, 11.10 km will undergo renovations at a cost of ₹739.57 lakh. The project also includes constructing an RCC drainage system over a 1,650-meter stretch to improve water management. This road serves as a vital artery for the local population and businesses, ensuring better accessibility and flood resilience.
4. Saraiya to Motipur (Length: 28.20 km)
Connecting NH-102 at Saraiya with NH-28 at Motipur, this route is essential for regional transit. Renovation work will enhance its usability, benefiting residents and businesses operating in the area.
5. Muzaffarpur to Pusa Road (Length: 23 km)
With an administrative approval of ₹1,336.79 lakh, this road will be overhauled to improve connectivity between Muzaffarpur’s blocks and Pusa Agriculture College. The project aims to support both educational and agricultural activities by ensuring better transport facilities.
6. Motipur to Sahebganj (Length: 23.20 km)
Of this route, 16.35 km will be renewed with an investment of ₹1,269.03 lakh. This road links Motipur with Sahebganj and plays a crucial role in industrial development. The presence of two ethanol plants in the region makes this renovation vital for facilitating smoother transport and encouraging further industrial growth.
