Haryana’s first airport Maharaja Agrasen Hisar Airport, is fully ready to start operations. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is on the verge of issuing its license, paving the way for flights to commence this month. With this development, Haryana is set to take a significant leap in air connectivity. Alliance Air Aviation Limited will operate flights from this state-of-the-art airport as soon as the license is issued. Reports suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the facility, fulfilling Haryana’s long-awaited dream of having its first functional airport.

Haryana’s First Airport to Connect Five States

Once operational, Hisar Airport will connect Haryana with five major states: Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh (Ayodhya), Gujarat (Ahmedabad), Rajasthan (Jaipur), and Jammu & Kashmir (Jammu). These routes are expected to significantly benefit not only the residents of Haryana but also travelers from neighboring regions. The project, designed to boost regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme, aims to bring convenience to travelers while fostering economic growth in the region.

Passenger Capacity and Key Facilities

The airport is equipped to handle approximately 1,000 passengers per hour. Daily operations will include around 20 flights, translating to an annual capacity of 3.5 lakh passengers. Covering an impressive 7,200-acre area, the airport is designed to accommodate large aircraft, including Boeing 777, B787, and Airbus A330 models. Travelers will enjoy world-class amenities, making their flying experience comfortable and efficient. With its seamless infrastructure, Hisar Airport is poised to become a significant hub for air travel in North India.

Advanced Terminal Construction Underway

The construction of a larger passenger terminal, adhering to international standards, is already underway. The terminal is being developed at a cost of ₹503 crore and will include modern facilities to cater to increasing passenger traffic. Additionally, the terminal will be connected to the railway network, offering integrated travel options for passengers. The AAI has taken charge of designing and building the terminal to ensure it meets global benchmarks for quality and efficiency.

Strategic Boost to Connectivity and Economy

The new airport is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity in Haryana. Beyond providing travel convenience, the airport is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for regional economic growth by attracting businesses, tourism, and investments. The routes to be operational from Hisar Airport include critical destinations such as Chandigarh, Ayodhya, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Jammu, connecting Haryana to major cultural, business, and religious centers in India.

Estimated Timeline for Operations

The airport has reached its final stages, with the licensing process nearly complete. Sources indicate that AAI could issue the license within December 2024. Once flights commence, Hisar Airport will mark a new chapter in Haryana’s transport and infrastructure development journey.
