Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on December 13, 2024. During this visit, he will gift the region developmental projects worth a whopping ₹7,000 crores. The event promises grandeur, with elaborate arrangements to welcome the Prime Minister. Among the highlights is a floral decoration weighing around 400 quintals sourced from across the country and abroad.
The centerpiece of the welcome ceremony will be an exquisite display of 15 varieties of roses, including shades of red, white, yellow, cream, and pink. These roses have been specially brought in to adorn the city’s landmarks, including the iconic Hanuman Temple and the newly developed Akshayavat Corridor.
Exotic Flowers to Add Fragrance and Elegance
Prayagraj’s welcome arrangements also include exotic flowers sourced from Karnataka, West Bengal, and Delhi, ensuring a vibrant mix of 32 species. Additionally, international blooms such as Gypsophila (Baby’s Breath) and Star Anise Carnations will elevate the aesthetic appeal. These premium flowers are priced at ₹600 to ₹700 per bunch, reflecting the opulence of the preparations.
Two exclusive varieties of marigold flowers have been imported from Kolkata to enhance the decorations further. Alongside, orchids and lilies will also find their place in the grand arrangements, adding sophistication to the event.
Greenery to Complement Floral Splendor
In addition to flowers, decorative foliage has been curated to complement the floral installations. Leaves from plants like Manokamna, Tal Patta, Palm, Dracaena, and Ball Asparagus have been procured. These will be used creatively to give an organic and lush backdrop to the floral arrangements.
According to local artisans, the flowers and leaves are being carefully stored to maintain their freshness for the big day. These materials were pre-booked to ensure the availability of premium quality decorations.
Tireless Efforts by Artisans and Laborers
The decorations for the PM’s visit have been a massive undertaking. A team of 250 laborers, under the guidance of an experienced flower decoration agency from Lucknow, has been working relentlessly for the past four days and nights. Most of these artisans hail from West Bengal and are experts in floral decorations.
The workers are currently crafting intricate welcome gates, pavilions, and canopies at the Sangam Nose area, where the main stage is set up. The floral arrangements aim to create an enchanting atmosphere, ensuring that the Prime Minister’s visit is memorable for all attendees.
Advanced Preparations at Full Swing
The arrangements for PM Modi’s visit started well in advance. Three truckloads of flowers arrived at the Sangam Tirtha area two days ago. Special care has been taken to ensure that these flowers stay vibrant despite the weather conditions. The team has planned every detail meticulously, leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the city radiates beauty and charm during the event.
Focus on Local and International Blend
The decorations highlight a fusion of local traditions and international aesthetics. Indigenous flowers like marigolds have been mixed with imported ones like Daisies and Carnations to create a unique blend. The cultural significance of flowers in Indian traditions is further emphasized through such thoughtful decorations.
This grand gesture not only reflects the hospitality of Prayagraj but also symbolizes the city’s pride in hosting the nation’s leader. The lavish floral arrangements and developmental projects signify the progressive steps being taken under PM Modi’s leadership.
