In Haryana, government procurement of paddy has been started from 27 September 2024 under Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25. With the aim of giving relief to the farmers in the state, the Mandi administration has made strong arrangements for the purchase.

Purchase of paddy and other Kharif crops at MSP

This time in Haryana, all Kharif crops including paddy will be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Mandi officials have appealed to the farmers to dry the paddy crop properly and bring it to the mandis within the prescribed moisture limit so that the purchase of the crop can be done smoothly.

Full preparation of procurement agencies

This time the Haryana government has activated all the agencies to ensure smooth completion of the paddy procurement process. Other procurement agencies including the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs have made full preparations for the purchase. Under this, farmers will not have to face any kind of problem.

New facility of Mandi Gate Pass

Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has implemented a new system for Mandi Gate Pass this time, under which farmers can now make gate passes from home. For those farmers who do not have the facility to make gate passes, this facility will be made available at the gate of the Mandi. This arrangement has been made for the convenience of the farmers so that they do not have to stand in long lines.

Increase in paddy area

In the year 2024, an increase has been registered in the area of paddy cultivation in Haryana. The area under paddy cultivation has reached 15.73 lakh hectares this year, which has also increased crop production significantly. The production of straw of Basmati and non-Basmati paddy has also increased, which has reached a total of 8.10 million tonnes this year.

Big announcement of Chief Minister

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini had already announced that the state government would buy all crops at MSP. Till now the government used to buy 14 crops at MSP, but now 10 more new crops will also be brought under the purview of MSP. This means that now a total of 24 crops will be bought at MSP in Haryana. This step can prove to be a relief for the farmers and will help in ensuring their income.
