Maha Kumbh 2025: Development at Prayag and Fafamau Stations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on December 13 to inaugurate key development projects. As part of this initiative, the Prayag and Fafamau stations have been transformed under the “Amrit Bharat Station” scheme. Two new 12-meter-wide foot overbridges (FOBs) have been added at Fafamau Junction, along with a new station building inspired by temple architecture. Similarly, Prayag Junction’s main building now mirrors a temple design, with only dome installations pending.

The number of platforms at Prayag Junction has increased from three to four, ensuring better crowd management during the Mahakumbh. Passenger movement will follow a systematic entry and exit system, enhancing convenience and safety.

Maha Kumbh 2025: New Bridges and Shelters

Jhunsi Station has been upgraded as a satellite station of Prayagraj, with ₹27.02 crore spent on expanding passenger amenities. A new foot overbridge has been constructed, bringing the total to three. For the first time, six permanent passenger shelters have been added to cater to the needs of visitors. The platform count at Jhunsi has also been increased from three to four, ensuring smoother operations during the Mahakumbh rush.

Maha Kumbh 2025: New Platform and Facilities

Ram Bagh Station now features a new platform, along with an additional foot overbridge. A new building for ticketing services has been constructed, accommodating both PRS and UTS systems. Platforms five and six have been extended, with larger sheds for passenger convenience. Additionally, three permanent shelters have been installed, and lifts are being introduced to improve accessibility.

Maha Kumbh 2025: Enhancements at Naini, Cheoki, and Subedarganj Stations

Railway stations at Naini, Cheoki, and Subedarganj have witnessed substantial improvements. Dual-side access at all three stations now allows smoother passenger movement. Cheoki Station has a nearly finished food plaza, upgraded foot overbridges, and improved amenities. At Naini Station, a new waiting hall and goods shed have been constructed, along with refurbished foot overbridges.

Subedarganj Station has a revamped circulating area near the Rajrooppur side. Platforms at all three stations now feature expanded passenger sheds, while Subedarganj has also added a washing line for train maintenance.

Maha Kumbh 2025: Managing the Largest Crowd

Prayagraj Junction is expected to handle the maximum crowd during Mahakumbh. Although no major construction projects were initiated here, extensive upgrades have been made to passenger facilities. Four permanent shelters have been set up for waiting passengers. Additionally, a mela control tower equipped with 18 screens and CCTV cameras has been established to manage crowd control, train schedules, and emergency responses.

New water taps and increased numbers of steel benches on platforms ensure comfort and accessibility for visitors. The station has also been decorated with religious paintings to reflect the festive spirit of Mahakumbh.
